ITTA BENA, Miss. – Bethune-Cookman rallied for a doubleheader split against Mississippi Valley State Friday, taking the second game 10-5 after dropping the opener 2-0.
The Wildcats (9-19 overall, 4-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference) and the Delta Devilettes (6-14,4-3) conclude the conference series Saturday afternoon.
GAME 2
Bethune-Cookman broke open a 4-4 tie with a four-run sixth, capitalizing on two MVSU errors.
Haley Parks and
Joslynn Davis made it a 6-4 game when they scored on an infield error, then
Briana Paysinger scored on a wild pitch.
Carrington Robinson was brought home on a
Desirae Martinez sacrifice fly.
Parks hit a two-run single in the seventh to make it a 10-4 game.
Davis, Paysinger, Robinson and Martinez each had two hits as B-CU posted a season-high run total.
Hannah Ortega got the win in relief, giving up just two hits and three and two-thirds innings.
GAME 1
B-CU managed just three hits in the opener as MVSU scored in the fifth and sixth. Ortega struck out six in six innings.
