DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A wild rundown went in Bethune-Cookman's favor and allowed the Wildcats to split a non-conference doubleheader with Florida Atlantic Wednesday at Sunnyland Park.
B-CU (15-23) won the second game 2-1 after FAU (22-21) took the opener 5-0.
GAME 2
Essence Gibbs was caught in a seventh inning rundown on
Haley Parks' fielder's choice, but scored when a FAU fielder dropped the ball. Gibbs led off with a single and was on third after a
Joslynn Davis double.
B-CU took a 1-0 lead in the third when
Carrington Robinson scored on
Briana Paysinger's sacrifice fly, but FAU tied it in the seventh.
Halyne Gonzalez registered the victory, scattering four hits and strolling out seven.
Davis and Gibbs each had two hits for B-CU.
GAME 1
FAU limited the Wildcats to five hits – two by Davis – and scored two in the third one in the fourth and two in the seventh.
