HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Bethune-Cookman posted season highs of 12 runs and 16 hits as the Wildcats downed Alabama A&M 12-2 to conclude a Southwestern Athletic Conference series sweep Saturday afternoon.
Jasmeen Rivera drove in three runs, while
Briana Paysinger,
Desirae Martinez and
Essence Gibbs had two RBI each.
Paysinger and Gibbs each had three hits as B-CU (14-22 overall, 9-6 SWAC) recovered from a 2-0 deficit.
Carrington Robinson scored  in the fourth to make it to 2-1, then Gibbs and
Julissa Gomez scored on a fifth-inning to give the Wildcats a 3-2 lead
Rivera's two-run single and a RBI single from Gibbs extended B-CU's lead to 6-2 after six.
Paysinger's two-run double highlighted a six-run seventh inning.
Halyne Gonzalez picked up the win with five innings of shutout relief. She struck out six.
B-CU hosts Florida Atlantic Wednesday.
