Wildcats Drop Season Finale in Tallahassee

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Rattlers spoil B-CU's regular season finale after a 6-1 win, Saturday afternoon at Moore-Kittles Field.

The loss drops the Wildcats back into the third-place spot in the SWAC's East division as the Rattlers hold the head-to-head tiebreaker. B-CU will take on the West division's No. 2 seed, Grambling State as the SWAC tournament opens next week.

How It Happened

FAMU (26-28, 19-11 SWAC) jumped ahead early in the second on an RBI single. They tacked on three runs an inning later on five hits and a B-CU error that made it 4-0.

The Rattlers were kept quiet until the later innings when they tacked on insurance runs in the seventh and eighth.

The Wildcats (24-29, 19-11 SWAC) grabbed their lone run in the top of the eighth on an Irvin Escobar sacrifice fly, but that was all as they fell, 6-1, in the season finale.

Hector Vazquez made the start and took the loss after allowing four runs – only two earned – on ten hits, two walks – one intentional – and four strikeouts.

Amir Asghar, Gabriel White, and Gabriel Perez finished out the afternoon on the mound. They allowed a combined one earned run on six hits with one walk and a strikeout.

Notes
  • Both teams left ten men on base.
  • Matthew Garcia has hits in six straight games. He has registered multiple hits in five of his last ten games.
  • Jeremy Garcia went 2-4.
