GREENSBORO, N.C. – Bethune-Cookman volleyball opens its 2022 season Friday and Saturday with three matches at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro.

The Wildcats, in their second season in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, will face UNC-Greensboro Friday at 6 p.m., then face North Carolina A&T Saturday at 11 a.m. and Coppin State at 4 p.m.
B-CU was 6-21 last season.

The Wildcats are led by redshirt junior middle blocker Alleah Dallas, who led the conference with 99 blocks – the eighth highest single-season mark in B-CU history. Dallas was named SWAC preseason middle blocker of the year.

Redshirt sophomore Jasmine Moore led the Wildcats in 2021 with 212 kills and was second with 24 service aces.
Also returning are Victoria Samedy (88 kills) and Malina Spencer (74). Jacynta Williams returns after posting 246 digs in 2021.

UNC-Greensboro was 23-7 last season, falling to The Citadel in the opening round of the SoCon tournament. Senior setter Gabriela McHugh was voted to the Preseason All-Conference team.

North Carolina A&T, who used to be in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with B-CU but is now in the Colonial Athletic Association, finished 20-11 last season.

Coppin State was 16-12 in 2021 and features Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference player of the year and 2022 preseason player of the year Miajavon Coleman, who has led the MEAC in kills for three seasons.


All-Time Series

Friday's matchup will be the first time in the history of the two programs that B-CU and UNCG will meet.

Saturday's match will be the thirty-third all-time between the Wildcats and Aggies. B-CU holds a 20-12 advantage in the series, but they have lost the last two.

Saturday will mark the twelfth time that B-CU and Coppin State have met. The Wildcats currently maintain a 6-5 edge, but they have lost the previous two.
