DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jalon Jones, who transferred to Bethune-Cookman this season, has seen significant time at quarterback this season. Here's a post-practice Q&A session with the junior from Richmond, Va.
How do you assess your performance so far this season?
A: Promising, but a lot to work on… I've had some good moments and bad moments. I just have to work on consistently being good and working harder every day in practice to be better on game day.
How have you improved since arriving at B-CU?
A: My awareness as a quarterback, being able to rely on what the defense is giving me and trying to work against that
Talk about the relationship between you and your receivers and you and your line.
A: I have a good wide receiver corps out there. Great group of guys. Anyone of them can affect you down field. They all are hardworking and it has showed what we have been doing all summer and fall camp.
My o-line… I love and respect those guys. They come out and fight no matter what is going on. They are disciplined and hard-working. I have a lot of respect for them.
What do you think about Grambling State?
A: They are a good team Coach Hue Jackson is doing a great job with their football program. They play fast, work hard and love to compete.
What will it take to beat them?
A: We can't beat ourselves first off. No selfish penalties, no turnovers… stick together as a team. Battle with whatever they bring to the table and compete and don't flinch and we will be able to win.
