HOUSTON – Bethune-Cookman dropped both its matches at the Molly Howard-Gerwig Memorial Tournament at Houston Baptist Friday, falling 3-0 (25-21,25-19,25-16) to Louisiana Monroe and 3-1 to Houston Baptist (23-25,25-12,25-18,25-17).

The Wildcats (0-5) conclude the tournament Saturday against UC-Riverside.


HOUSTON BAPTIST 3, B-CU 1

Jasmine Moore had 14 kills as B-CU rallied to take the first set.

The Wildcats used a 7-0 run to turn a 19-15 deficit into a 22-19 lead in the first set. Houston Baptist (4-1) tied it at 22-22, but B-CU scored the next two points to regain control.

Jaedyn Newman finished with nine kills and eight digs for B-CU, while Niara Hightower added five kills.

Alisha Callender double-doubled with 18 assists and 11 digs. Madison Coates posted 10 assists.

Moore and Newman also eight digs.

LOUISIANA MONROE 3 B-CU 0

Newman had 10 kills, seven digs and three service aces in the Wildcats' opening match of the day.

Alleah Dallas and Moore added six and four kills, respectively. Dallis had four blocks, Morris two.

Callender posted 13 assists and three service aces, and Coates 10 assists.

Jacynta Williams finished with four digs.
