BATON ROUGE, La. – Kayla White scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to lead a Bethune-Cookman rally, but Southern held on for a 65-61 Southwestern Athletic Conference victory Monday night.
The Wildcats trailed 55-44 with 6:29 remaining, but White led a comeback that gave B-CU (3-10 overall, 2-1 SWAC) a 61-60 lead on her lay-up with 1:58 remaining.
Southern (6-9,3-1) scored the next five points to regain control.
White, who was averaging 2.7 points a game, finished with 18.
Chanel Wilson led the Wildcats with 20 points, 11 in the first quarter. This was her sixth 20 point game in the season.
Kayla Clark posted her second season, finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The loss snapped a two-game Wildcat winning streak.
B-CU hosts Mississippi Valley State Saturday.
