BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Bethune-Cookman's
Nyidjah Ives has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Runner of the Week for the period of October 18-24, announced Wednesday afternoon by the league office in Birmingham, Alabama.
Nyidjah Ives, a sophomore from Kissimmee, Florida, ran for the Wildcats most recently in the Royals Challenge hosted by Queens (N.C.) in Charlotte, North Carolina. With the race held as a 5K event, Ives led the way for the Maroon and Gold with a finishing time of 21:26.78. She would earn a 177th place showing in a tightly contested field of 244 runners.
As a team, the Bethune-Cookman women's side registered a 27th place showing with 806 points.
José Gonzalez was tabbed the SWAC Men's Runner of the Week.
