DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Running back Mar'Kai Shaw has been named SWAC Newcomer of the Week for the week of Nov. 6-13 the conference office announced Monday.

California native Mar'Kai Shaw enjoyed an outstanding day on the ground in the Wildcats' 31-14 win over Alabama A&M Saturday. He finished the day with 12 carries for 109 yards, averaging 9.1 yards per carry in just his second appearance of the season. The true freshman contributed a 52-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats completed a comeback win over the Bulldogs.

It is the first weekly honor of Shaw's career. He becomes the second Wildcat to take home SWAC Weekly Honors this season after wideout Tink Boyd received Newcomer of the Week honors on Nov. 6.
