DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman Women's Basketball welcomes Southern (La.) and Grambling State to Richard V. Moore Gymnasium this weekend for a pair of key conference games. The Wildcats dropped a 65-63 decision to Southern last month in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, while falling to Grambling State 63-46 in Grambling.
The Cats will be playing their final three regular season games at home, as they look to strengthen their chances at earning a spot in the upcoming SWAC Tournament in Birmingham, Alabama.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN
Southern University enters the weekend fifth in the SWAC standings with a league record of 9-5, and an overall mark of 12-13 on the year. The Jaguars have won three consecutive games as they arrive to Daytona Beach, including a 54-50 win in their last outing against in-state rival Grambling State last weekend.
- Southern (La.) averages 56.4 points per game, while allowing opponents to score an average of 62.6 points per game
- The Jaguars are shooting at a 33.4 percent clip from three-point territory
- Genovea Johnson leads the Jags in scoring with 10.9 points per game, while adding 4.9 rebounds per contest
- Amani Mcwain is shooting 35.6 percent from beyond the arc, going on to shoot at a 33.9 percent clip from the field overall
- Chloe Fleming and Mcwain have each played and started in all 25 games on the year
LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE JAGUARS
Kayla White scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to lead a Bethune-Cookman rally, but Southern held on for a 65-63 Southwestern Athletic Conference victory.
The Wildcats trailed 55-44 with 6:29 remaining, but White led a comeback that gave BCU a 61-60 lead on her lay-up with 1:58 remaining.
Southern scored the next five points to regain control.
White, who was averaging 2.7 points a game, finished with 18.
Chanel Wilson led the Wildcats with 20 points, 11 in the first quarter. This was her sixth 20-point game in the season.
Kayla Clark posted her second season, finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The loss snapped a two-game Wildcat winning streak.
SCOUTING GRAMBLING STATE
Grambling State first plays Florida A&M on Saturday, Feb. 25, before arriving to Daytona Beach for Monday evening's game against Bethune-Cookman. The Tigers hold a record of 7-18 overall, and a 6-8 mark in the league sitting tied for eighth alongside Alcorn. The Tigers are 4-11 away from home this year and have lost three of their last four games.
- Grambling State is paced in scoring by Colbi Maples (12.9 ppg) and Leah Morrow (9.8 ppg)
- Maples has connected on 36 three-pointers, while Morrow and Phylicia Allen have converted 56 free throws each
- Amanda Blake leads the Tigers with 25 blocks, and is second with an average of 5.3 rebounds per game
- As a team, GSU is shooting just 24.9 percent from beyond the arc
LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE TIGERS
Chanel Wilson scored 18 points as Bethune-Cookman pulled away to a 63-46 Southwestern Athletic Conference victory over Grambling State.
Leading 42-38 after three quarter, the Wildcats started the fourth quarter on a 14-2 run to take a commanding 56-40 lead on a
Kayla Clark jumper with 4:57 remaining. Grambling never got closer than 12 points after that.
Wilson made two-three pointers during the run, while White would finish six of her 12 points in the fourth quarter.
Wilson now has now scored 18 points or more in nine of her 12 games.
D'Shantae Edwards also scored 12 points for the Wildcats, who erased an early 16-11 deficit to take the lead in the second quarter. A 7-0 run gave B-CU a 32-25 halftime lead.

Kayla White six.

Bethune-Cookman will honor seniors
Morgan Beacham (Orlando, Fla.) and
Tahisha Dossous (Miami, Fla.) as the Wildcats host Florida A&M at Moore Gym on Saturday, March 4, at 2 p.m. It will also be the final regular season game for the Wildcats.
