MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman Softball finished up day two action at THE Spring Games on Saturday, with the Wildcats taking part in a pair of contests against LIU and Creighton, respectively. The Cats fell to LIU in the morning game 4-0, before dropping an 11-2 decision to Creighton in the nightcap.

Game One: LIU 4, Bethune-Cookman 0
Maria Galvan collected her first two hits of the 2023 season on Saturday morning, with Bethune-Cookman stumbling to LIU 4-0 at R.O.C. Park in Madeira Beach, Florida. The game was part of THE Spring Games.

LIU plated a run early with Camryn Lyman's RBI ground out to first scoring leadoff hitter Mari Narvaiz for the 1-0 lead.

The Sharks would add another run in the third, and then put up two incentive runs in the fifth for the 4-0 final.
Â
BCU (1-16) received a pair of hits from
Maria Galvan, while
Kayla Traylor and
Desirae Martinez each registered hits as well for the Wildcats.

The win went to the Sharks' Lindsey Cowans (3-4) in going the complete game in the pitcher's circle, allowing four hits and punching out eight. The loss went to
Alyssa Lopez (0-2), where she went the distance in the circle for the Maroon and Gold, allowing four runs on 11 hits, three walks and picking up three strikeouts.

Game Two: Creighton 11, Bethune-Cookman 2
Creighton scored nine runs across the first two innings on Saturday afternoon, as the Blue Jays defeated Bethune-Cookman 11-2 at R.O.C. Park in Madeira Beach, Florida. The game was part of THE Spring Games.

In her first action of the year in the pitcher's circle for Bethune-Cookman (1-17),
Ajah Mallary found it tough sledding for the Wildcats. The freshman from Miami tossed 1.1 innings, allowing nine runs (two earned) on five hits and five walks.

The Wildcats plated a pair of runs in the home-half of the second inning courtesy a
Katelynn Perez single to shortstop, allowing
Shania Owens and
Essence Gibbs to score – aided by an error charged to the Creighton infield.
Â
The Blue Jays would go on to add two runs in the top of the seventh.
Â
Creighton's Natalia Puchino (4-3) picked up the win, working a complete game with two runs allowed (one earned) on just four hits scattered, five walks and recording five strikeouts. The loss went to Mallary (0-1).
Halyne Gonzalez would finish the game in the circle for the Wildcats.

Joslynn Davis went 2-for-4 at the plate for BCU, while Perez finished 1-for-3 with her RBI to boot.

BCU concludes action in this year's THE Spring Games on Sunday when the Cats take on Southern Indiana back at R.O.C. Park at 4:30 p.m.
