DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Former Bethune-Cookman Men's Basketball player Marcus Garrett has signed his first-ever professional contract, set to begin his professional career with Košarkaški klub Donji Vakuf in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
 
Commonly referred to as Promo Donji Vakuf or Promo DV due to sponsorship obligations, Donji Vakuf Basketball Club competes in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Championship, and is based in Donji Vakuf, Central Bosnia Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The head coach of the squad is Admir Dzihan.
 
Garrett, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound guard from Chicago, finished the 2022-23 campaign second on the Wildcats squad with an average of 13.5 points per game. He converted 40.1 percent of his shots from the field, including 39 percent from three-point land.
 
Of the 12-team league, Promo Donji Vakuf finished last season 10th with a record of 5-17 overall. The team is part of FIBA Europe. Each season, the bottom team from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Championship is relegated to the second level basketball leagues.
 
As for Garrett, the Hillcrest High alum spent time at Wabash Valley and Morehead State prior to his arrival at Daytona Beach leading into the 2021-22 season for Head Coach Reggie Theus and the Wildcats program. In helping guide Bethune-Cookman to its first-ever appearance in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's Basketball Tournament in 2022-23, Garrett played in all 32 games for the Maroon and Gold, averaging a team-most 32.1 minutes per game. He would lead the squad with 91 assists, and finish second on the team with 42 steals.
 
Garrett is projected to be the only American on the Promo Donji Vakuf roster leading into the 2023-24 campaign.
