Jackson State Too Much for B-CU

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A banged-up B-CU team fought hard, but could not overcome Jackson State as they fell, 81-65, Saturday afternoon at Moore Gymasium.  Header How it Happened Bethune-Cookman (12-7, 3-3 SWAC), without Kayla Clark or Chanel Wilson saw Miya Crump score six of the first eight Jackson State (11-6, 6-0 SWAC) points as the Tigers took an 8-4 lead into the first media timeout. They pushed that lead to 20-8 as the two teams hit the end of the first quarter.

Jackson State continued to put pressure on, pushing the lead to 34-13 before Kerrighan Dunn's corner three fell for B-CU's second field goal of the quarter. The Wildcats rode a 10-1 run to pull to within 14 of JSU.

Kalya White brought the Wildcats to within 13 on another corner three, but Jackson State put up four more in the final 50 seconds of the half to enter the break leading 43-26.

The Tigers kept the pressure on out of the break, holding a 20-point lead at 56-36 with three minutes remaining in the third. That became a 66-41 lead entering the fourth.

The Wildcats continued to fight, as D'Shantae Edwards and-one layup, followed by a Tigers technical that made it 75-61, but Jackson State closed things out for an 81-65 final.
