Four Players Reach Double Figures in Wildcats Win

White Leads with 15 points, five steals in victory

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - An undermanned Wildcats team saw four players reach double-figures as B-CU took down Alcorn State, 66-58, Monday night at Moore Gymnasium.  Header How it Happened Bethune-Cookman (13-7, 4-3 SWAC) and Alcorn State (4-14, 2-5 SWAC) battled through a tough first five minutes, with the Braves coughing up seven turnovers while still trailing just 6-4 at the first media timeout.

Chanelle McDonald's layup gave B-CU a two-point lead as the two teams hit the end of the first quarter.

True freshman Chariot Johnson broke a 24-24 stalemate midway through the second with a three ball, her eighth points of the game, kickstarting an 13-0 B-CU run to close out the half with the Wildcats up, 37-24

That run continued out of the break as B-CU scored six straight to go up 43-24 before the Braves finally answered with five straight buckets off two B-CU turnovers to cut the deficit to 43-33

Kerrighan Dunn's free throws to close kept Alcorn State at bay as the third quarter ended with B-CU up 54-43.

The Braves continued to make the most of Wildcat turnovers, pulling to within 54-47 on a strip and jump shot from Tyginae Wright.

B-CU nearly pulled away after O'Mariyah Tucker's wide open layup made it six straight for the Wildcats, but Nakia Cheatham's three kept the Braves within striking distance at 60-50 with under five to play.

Alcorn State continued to creep closer at 64-56, but a timely steel by Karianna Woods allowed B-CU to begin to run out the clock with under a minute to play.

Edwards layup off B-CU's 15th steal of the game gave the Wildcats a 66-58 advantage, which would be the final as B-CU improved to 13-7 on the season.
