TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – AJ Simmons provided seven kills while
Jasmine Robinson had eight kills of her own as visiting Bethune-Cookman fell 3-0 to Florida A&M on Wednesday evening in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Volleyball contest at the Lawson Center. FAMU took the match on a line score of 25-17, 25-16, 25-14.

With the opening set tied at 10-10, it would be Florida A&M (13-5, 5-0 SWAC) collecting 11 of the next 14 points to run out to a 21-13 edge. Brooke Lynn Watts and Lyonnie Sanford each tallied six kills in the opener, allowing the Rattlers the set victory, 25-17.

Bethune-Cookman (6-11, 3-2 SWAC) used four AJ Simmons kills in the second set as the Wildcats amassed 10 kills overall as a team.
Jasmine Robinson, the reigning SWAC Newcomer of the Week, provided three kills for the Maroon and Gold during the frame.

The Rattlers hit .385 in the third set, while B-CU countered with two blocks each from
Niara Hightower,
Tiyanna Preston and Robinson, respectively.

FAMU was led on the night by Sanford's 13 kills, as well as 12 kills from Watts. Alexandra Koleva issued 32 assists. And it was Tinons Galmes gathering 14 digs to lead her side.

The Cats were sparked offensively by the eight kills from Robinson and seven from Simmons. Hightower added five blocks (assisted), while
Elizabeth Phillips and
Sydni Poston each recorded in six digs.

B-CU takes to the court again Sunday, Oct. 13, when the Cats face Alcorn State. With Hurricane Milton barreling down on the "Sunshine State" during the overnight hours of Wednesday, a site for the match will be determined later in the week. Stay tuned to BCUathletics.com for details.
