Wildcats Shutout in Series Opener

Errors costly in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE Fla. - Despite another solid outing from starting pitcher Tanner Boccabello, the Wildcats' offensive cold streak continued in a 4-0 loss at the hands of Florida A&M, Friday night at Moore-Kittles Field.

Header How it Happened

Bethune-Cookman (25-21, 15-7 SWAC) notched a pair of hits and a walk out of the gate in the top of the first, but were unable to push anything across.

Florida A&M (23-21, 18-4 SWAC) got on the board in the bottom of the second as a B-CU error prolonged the inning, allowing a pair of runs to score on a sacrifice bunt and RBI single.

The Rattlers added a run in the fourth thanks to two more B-CU errors. FAMU nearly made it a 4-0 ballgame, but a relay from Sergio Rivera in right field cut down the runner at home.

Florida A&M grabbed one more run an inning later on a solo homer to make it 4-0.

B-CU stranded two runners in the sixth and seventh, but were unable to cross the plate as the Rattlers held on for the shutout.

Tanner Boccabello made the start. In seven innings, he allowed four runs - only one earned - on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Yoansell Diaz worked a scoreless inning with a strikeout.
