DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. -  The Wildcats wrap up the Embry-Riddle Cross Country Classic, Saturday morning in Daytona Beach. Both the men and women finished sixth overall.

Victor Kibet's time of 26:33.9 earned him a fifth place finish - the best finish for a Wildcat in 2024. The hosts of Embry-Riddle took first place on the men's side finishing with 35 points, followed by Seton Hall with 44, Florida Tech with 104, Ave Maria with 114, Seminole State College with 172, Bethune-Cookman with 188, Barry with 199, Lake-Sumter State with 229, FSCJ (Jacksonville) with 249, Florida College with 251, Edward Waters with 309, and Webber with 318. 

On the women's side, B-CU's Valencia Butler finished 27th out of 118 teams and led the Cats with a 21:25.0 finish. Seton Hall took first place with 24 points, followed by hosts Embry-Riddle with 39, Ave Maria with 77, Seminole State College with 128, Barry with 141, Bethune-Cookman with 192, South Florida State College with 205, FSCJ (Jacksonville) with 259, Lake-Sumter State with 270, Central Florida with 279, Florida College with 322, University of the Bahamas with 345, and Edward Waters with 367.

Last week, Victor Kibet was named SWAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week with his impressive performance at the Duval 5K Invitational. His impressive fifth place finish at the Embry-Riddle Cross Country Classic shows potential for the nomination two weeks in a row.
