JACKSON, Miss. - Amaya Jennings set a career-high, and a season-high for any Wildcat with seven kills, but B-CU fell to defending SWAC champion Jackson State, Sunday afternoon at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.
Jackson State (5-8, 1-1 SWAC) jumped out to a 6-3 advantage in the first set before the two teams traded points on the way to a 20-16 Tigers lead.

Bethune-Cookman (4-10, 1-1 SWAC) rallied, scoring six of the next seven to go in front, 22-21.

JSU's James Jayden's kill put Jackson State on the doorstep of an opening-set win before an
Elizabeth Phillips kill and
Ktyal Price block set B-CU up for a 27-26 set one win.

Again the Tigers started the second set strong, leading by as much as 14-6 and 21-11 before the Wildcats rallied for four straight points and 11 of the next 13 thanks to four kills from
Amya Jennings and a pair of
Jasmine Robinson service aces to make it 23-22 in favor of the Tigers.

Unfortunately for B-CU, an error and a JSU ace gave the Tigers the second set, 25-22.

Jackson State went up 14-7 once again in set three before a Jennings kill and
Niara Hightower block cut the deficit to a 15-13 game. B-CU again pulled to within two on another block, this time from Price to make it a 20-18 game.

Back-to-back Jennings kills knotted things at 23-23 before James added two kills herself to take set three for the Tigers.

Jackson State closed out the contest with a 25-15 win in the fourth set to take the game, 3-1.
