Bethune-Cookman Sinks Mariners

Wildcats Completes Rout in Home-Opener

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Arterio Morris finished with 21 points as Bethune-Cookman dominated Coastal Georgia 101-64 in front of their home crowd. The win was B-CU's first on the new season as they look to build momentum before heading back on the road.

1st Half
Daniel Rouzan began the night with the first six points for the home team as the Wildcats set the tone early. Coastal Georgia was able to tie the game at four after falling behind, but were quickly overwhelmed by the B-CU offense and were never able to recover.

The Wildcats finished with 49 points in the first half, and they led by as much as 24. The team shot 56.7% from the field and 40% from three while holding the Mariners to 31.4% shooting.

B-CU was especially dominant in the paint, outscoring Coastal Georgia 24-8.

2nd Half
The Cats continued to cruise during the second period, never allowing the Mariners to get within striking distance. B-CU was able to empty their bench as twelve players entered the game. Freshman William Gonzalez scored his first nine points of his college career, draining all three of his three-point attempts in the second half.

The Wildcats scored 52 points, finishing with 101 for the game. The second half was similar to the first as the Wildcats shot 68.8% from the field compared to 31.0% for the Mariners.

B-CU once again dominated the interior, adding 30 more points in the paint.

  • Arterio Morris scored 21 points on 9/15 shooting. He narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds, also adding seven assists, two blocks, and five steals.
