1st Quarter
Bethune-Cookman (1-2) got off to a slow start offensively, as they missed their first three shot attempts while committing three turnovers during that span. The Golden Rams were able to take advantage, building an early six-point lead.
The Wildcats quickly responded, outscoring Albany State 19-6 the rest of the quarter. B-CU was able to accumulate 12 points off turnovers and shot 6/7 from the free-throw line.
2nd Quarter
B-CU was able to extend their lead to nine with 8:35 left until half, but Albany State was able to hang around, never letting the Wildcats gain a comfortable advantage.
Both teams shot over 50% from the field in the second period. The Golden Rams outscored B-CU 25-22 thanks to strong interior scoring (16 points in the paint) and forcing and converting points off turnovers.
3rd Quarter
Following halftime, the teams continued to go back-and-forth as Albany State fought hard to remain within a couple possessions. The Wildcats were finally able to extend their lead to double digits with :19 seconds left in the quarter following a fastbreak layup by
Kailyn Peters. The Golden Rams came up with a big shot at the end of the quarter as Sataria Cantrell hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to seven going into the fourth.
Neither team shot well in the period, with both teams finishing under 40% from the field. Albany State picked up nine second chance points as they looked to build momentum for a fourth-quarter comeback.
4th Quarter
The Wildcats finished with their third 20+ point quarter of the evening as they were able to close the door on the Golden Rams. A jumper by the Rams' Quantrese Washington cut the deficit to only three with 9:19 remaining. From here though, the Wildcats came up with a 15-1 run to take control of the game.
B-CU made seven of their 12 attempts during the fourth as they finished off their first win of the 2025-26 season.

Saturday's meeting will be 18th between these two programs. The Panthers lead the series 13-5 and have won the previous two matchups in a row. The last meeting came in 2023, with Bethune-Cookman's furious comeback bid coming up just short during a three-point loss.

This will be only the second game of the season for the FIU Panthers and their first at home. The Panthers previously played USF on November 3, losing in Tampa 81-56.
The Panthers were led in scoring against USF by junior Denika Lightbourne. The Dayton transfer had 21 points on 6/12 shooting. She shot 8/11 from the free-throw line and made her only three-point attempt. Lightbourne was also the team's leading rebounds with eight and added two steals and an assist.
FIU struggled offensively against the Bulls, shooting just 38.4% for the game and turning the ball over 23 times. Defensively, they were able to hold USF to just 8/35 shooting in the second half.
