Wildcats Fall in Miami

MIAMI, Fla. - Alexandria Johnson's 23-point game was not enough as the Wildcats were unable to rally against FIU, losing 81-68. B-CU was unable to overcome 31 turnovers as they fall to 1-3 in the non-conference slate.

Header How it Happened

The opening period was tightly contested with several lead changes throughout the first seven minutes of action.

B-CU was able to take 14-12 lead following two made free-throws by Alexandria Johnson. FIU would quickly respond though, going on a 10-1 run to make it 22-15.

The Wildcats would score the final three points of the quarter to cut the deficit to four going into the second.

Of FIU's 22 first quarter points, 11 of them came off of B-CU turnovers.

2nd Quarter
The Panthers were able to further increase their lead early in the second, going on an 11-4 scoring run to give them a comfortable 11-point advantage. B-CU fought to cut it back to seven, but FIU held strong at the end of the quarter, grabbing a 12-point lead going into halftime.

The Wildcats struggled offensively in the second quarter, shooting just 3-15 in the frame.

FIU dominated B-CU in the paint in the quarter, outscoring the Cats 14-2.

3rd Quarter
B-CU was able to trim the Panthers' deficit to eight following an 8-2 scoring run during the first two minutes of the half. During the remainder of the period, FIU was able to thwart the Wildcats' comeback effort and increase the lead to 12 going into the fourth.

The Panthers once again outpaced the Cats in the paint, 12-6.

4th Quarter
The Wildcats went on another scoring run to start the quarter, outscoring FIU 9-4 during the first 3:45 of the fourth. B-CU aimed for a late comeback as they cut the deficit back down to seven, but the Panthers were unwilling to relent and took control of the game the rest of the way
