Maryland Defeats B-CU 95-49

COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Maryland Terrapins put together a dominant performance at home as they completed a 95-49 home win over Bethune-Cookman.

Header How it Happened
1st Quarter
Turnovers continued to be an issue during the opening period for Bethune-Cookman (1-4) as Maryland (6-0) was able to build a substantial advantage early on. The Wildcats committed 11 turnovers which the Terrapins consistently turn into points on the other end.

Maryland was also dominant on the glass, outrebounding B-CU 12-6 while collecting five on the offensive end. They finished the quarter with 11 more shot attempts than the Wildcats en route to a 24-5 lead.

2nd Quarter
The Wildcats were able to take better care of the basketball in the second quarter, but they struggled to contain an ascendant Maryland offense. The Terrapins made nine of their 13 shot attempts which added up to another 20 point quarter.

B-CU shot 5-15 for the second quarter. Madison Holden led the way for the Wildcats with six points during the period.

Maryland finished the half with a 46-16 lead.

3rd Quarter
The Terrapins continued their tremendous offensive output, scoring 29 points on 10-17 shooting.

B-CU made two three-pointers in the quarter, but shot just 6-17 overall with eight turnovers.

4th Quarter
Maryland capped off their dominant effort with another 20-point quarter on 8-12 shooting.

The Wildcats hit two more three-pointers in the quarter as they look to build momentum from behind-the-arc.

  • Sophomore Jordan Brooks led the Wildcats in scoring with 13 points, including a perfect 3-for-3 performance from three-point territory.
  • B-CU shot 33.3% from the field compared to 58.7% for the Terrapins
  • Maryland saw four players score 13 points, which tied for the team lead
  • The Terrapins collected 15 steals as a team
