Cold Shooting Dooms Wildcats

B-CU Falls to Dolphins in Ocean Center

DAYTONA BEACH - Hayden Wood scored 15 points as Jacksonville was able to pull ahead of the Wildcats in the second half 69-64 at the Ocean Center. The loss drops B-CU to 2-4 on the season.

1st Half
Bethune-Cookman (2-4) got off to a hot start offensively, grabbing an early 17-8 lead on three made three-pointers. The Dolphins (3-3) were able to slowly claw their way back into the game as the Wildcats scoring began to cool down.

Jacksonville scored the final five points of the half, tying the game at 30-30. The Dolphins were able to score effectively in the paint, outscoring B-CU 22-12 in the painted area. Donovan Rivers led JU in scoring with nine points.

After going 3-for-4 on three-pointers to start, the Wildcats went 0-for-6 the rest of the half.

2nd Half
Neither squad was able to gain much separation in the second half. Both teams struggled mightily from the free-throw line, with the Wildcats shooting 9-for-19 and the Dolphins shooting 12-for-20.

A free-throw by Jakobi Heady tied the game at 61 with two minutes to go. From there, the Dolphins went on an 8-3 to put the game on ice with only one made field goal during the stretch, a three-pointer by Chris Lockett.

Jacksonville took much better care of the basketball in the second half, recording just two turnovers compared to seven for B-CU, The Dolphins won despite zero points from their leading scorer Chris Arias.
