ORLANDO - Sophomore Leah Harmon led the UCF Knights with 14 points as they were able to secure a 75-36 win over Bethune-Cookman. The Wildcats were unable to overcome a cold shooting night during their opening matchup on the road as they drop to 0-1 on the season.

FIRST HALF
Both teams struggled offensively early on as UCF made the first field-goal of the game at the 7:58 mark.
The Wildcats made their first basket with 6:21 remaining as redshirt senior guard
Shomari Phillips was able to force a turnover and quickly turn it into points.
However, the Wildcats would go through a prolonged scoring drought during the remaining of the quarter as their next field goal would not come until :17 seconds left. B-CU battled defensively, holding the Knights to only 29.4% shooting.
However, UCF was able to force seven Wildcat turnovers which helped them create a 15-5 advantage at the end of the period.
B-CU looked to battle back in the second quarter, but the offensive struggles continued to plague the Wildcats. Two made free-throws by senior
Kailyn Peters cut the deficit back to ten at the 7:25 mark. The Knights were quickly able to get the offense going, shooting 75% in the period.
UCF took advantage of B-CU's turnovers, turning them into 21 of their 35 points, while holding the Wildcats to 19% shooting in the first half.
SECOND HALF
The game quickly got out of hand in the third quarter, as the Wildcats continued to struggle offensively.
Following a made three from
Shomari Phillips, the Knights went on a 12-2 run that essentially put the game out of reach. UCF was dominant on the glass in the second half, collecting nine offensive rebounds that led to 10 second chance points.
Overall, UCF shot 54.7% from the field following the first quarter, while holding the Wildcats 24% and only 11 made field goals.

- The Wildcats did not have a player reach double-figures. Shomari Phillips led the team with eight points, including two made three-pointers. Tyler Butler put up a strong night on the glass, grabbing eleven boards.
The Cats will next head back to the Sunshine State to take on Miami on Thursday, November 6 at 11 a.m. in Coral Gables.
