BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior forward Sanai Tyler has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. It is the first weekly honor of her career and second for Wildcats women's basketball this season.

Sanai Tyler had a strong week during the HBCU Invitational. The junior collected eight points, a team-high seven rebounds, and two steals against Edward Waters. In a win over Livingstone, Tyler notched a double-double, with 10 points and 12 rebounds while also adding two assists, a steal, and a block.

Tyler becomes the second Wildcat this season to take home conference Newcomer of the Week after Alexandria Johnson received the honor on November 19.

Next up for B-CU, the Wildcats head to Virginia to take on the Richmond Spiders on Tuesday, December 16 at 11am.
