DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daniel Rouzan led all scorers with 19 as the Wildcats snapped their losing skid with a 68-64 win at Alabama A&M, Saturday night at the Huntsvill Event Center.
FIRST HALF
Six quick points for the Wildcats (12-15, 9-5 SWAC) kickstarted a 10-2 run to open the night before Alabama A&M (9-18, 5-9 SWAC) answred with a 14-2 run of its own to go up, 16-12 through the first eight minutes of play.
Jesus Carralero Martin tied things up with a layup at 16 all as the teams began trading leads for much of the rest of the half.
B-CU led by as many as four on two seperate occasions, one on a
Trey Thomas layup and the other on a pair of free throws from a returning
Reggie Ward Jr.
After AAMU's AC Bryant tied things at 35-35 with 23 seconds remaining, Rouzan beat the buzzer with a layup that put the Cats ahead, 37-35 at the half.
SECOND HALF
The Wildcats scored the first five points of the second half as Thomas's three made it 43-35 less than a minute in.
As the two teams struggled to score early in the half, another Thomas layup at the 13-minute mark made it a 47-39 lead for B-CU.
David Onanina's layup at the 11-minute mark gave B-CU its first double figure lead of the day at 49-39.
Kalil Camara downed a three a minute later to give the Cats their then-largest lead at 54-43.
B-CU grabbed its largest lead of the night with just a minute left as
Seneca Willoughby's free throws made it 64-52.
A quick pair of layups and Jaylen Colon three made it just a five-point Wildcat lead with under a minute. Two more quick Bulldog buckets made it just a three-point B-CU lead at 66-63 with 25 to go.
AAMU came as close at 66-64 on a Dylan McLean free throw, but the Bulldogs were forced to foul, and the Wildcats made their free throws to hold on to the 68-64 win.
- Rouzan scored 19 on 8-12 shootign with seven boards, three assists, and a block.
- Kalil Camara scored 18 on 6-9 shooting with four boards, an assists, and two blocks.
- Trey Thomas also added 12.
- Jesus Carralero Martin dished out six assists and 10 boards.
- The Wildcats won the battle on the boards, 44-33.
B-CU wraps up the 2024-25 road schedule with one more at Alabama S&M on Monday, Feb. 24. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST.
