Free Passes Hurt Wildcats in Loss to Sycamores

Indiana State walks 16 times, takes two HBP

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -Indiana State walked 16 times and took two hit-by-pitches as the Wildcats dropped a 12-4 midweek contest, Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

Header How it Happened

B-CU (2-6) worked around a one-out walk in the first as Jorge Rodriguez caught a Sycamore stealing to end the inning.

The Wildcats immediately put two runners on with no one out in the first, both via walks. With two outs, the Wildcats loaded the bases, but a strikeout ended any threat.

Indiana State (5-3) loaded the bases themselves an inning later via three walks, prompting a turn to the bullpen for B-CU. Isaias Duccassee forced a weak grounder to retire the side.

The Sycamores put a five-spot on the board to break the scoreless tie in the fourth after a one-out triple, wild pitch , three walks, and back-to-back RBI singles.

B-CU took two of those runs back in the bottom of the fourth as Daniel Figueroa, who entered previosly as a defensive replacement for a banged up Darryl lee, doubled do th the line in left to score two.

The next inning, The Cats added two more - working around a double-play as Jorge Rodriguez doubled to left center, scoring two to make iti 5-4.

The Sycamores grabbed one back in the top of the sixth thanks to a B-CU fielding error that made ti 6-4.

Indiana State added insurance in the seventh with three runs of the B-CU pen. Five walks and a throwing error made it 9-4.

As the B-CU offense continued its stall, Indiana State slammed the door shut with three runs in the top of the ninth as they finished off the 12-4 run.
