BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior outfielder Andrey Martinez has been Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Co-Newcomer of the Week, it was announced Wednesday from the conference headquarters in Birmingham, Ala. 

Andrey Martinez, a junior out of Barranquilla, Columbia, was strong at the plate as the Wildcats took two of three from SWAC foe Jackson State on the road. 

This marks the seventh weekly honor of the season for B-CU baseball. It marks the second of the season for Martinez, who was named Hitter of the Week on March 19. Over three games, he recorded five hits in 10 at-bats, including a three-hit day in the series finale. he scored five runs, driving in four himself. In a narrow midweek loss against UNF, Martinez finished 4-5 at the plate with a run scored and a double. 

The Cats are back at home this weekend as they host Southern for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
