DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Former Bethune-Cookman Men's Basketball student-athletes
Zion Harmon and
Jakobi Heady are set to return to Daytona Beach out of the transfer portal as members of Head Coach
Reggie Theus' squad after spending the 2024-25 season away from the program. The announcement came from both players Thursday, April 24, including announcements on their social media platform that caught the attention of several media outlets.
Zion Harmon, a 6-foot point guard, comes back to Bethune-Cookman from Seton Hall where he played just three games for the Pirates last season under Head Coach Shaheen Holloway. He played just 14 minutes and grabbed down one rebound to go along with one assist. Prior to his departure from the Maroon and Gold, Harmon, a Maryland native, scored 847 points in two seasons (2022-24) for the Wildcats, shooting 39.1 percent from the field – adding 29.9 percent from three-point range. He led B-CU with 111 assists in 2023-24, a year in which the Wildcats advanced to postseason play for the first time under Coach Theus in their participation at the 2024 Ro College Basketball Invitational.
Harmon would arrive as a redshirt senior, having not played during his true freshman season at Western Kentucky.
Jakobi Heady spent the 2024-25 season at Central Michigan playing alongside his brother, Quentin. Jakobi, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound senior from Sauk Village, Illinois, led the Chippewas with 466 points (15 ppg) and 203 rebounds (6.5 rpg), adding a 42.3 percent shooting clip from the field. Heady also shot 80 percent from the free throw line playing in all 31 games and amassing 26 starts across the season. At B-CU, Heady scored 524 points throughout the 2023-24 season, averaging 15.4 points per game with a 47.9 percent shooting touch from the floor overall. He connected on 40 three-pointers for a 32.3 percent touch from long range.
Both players are set to return immediately.
