DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. -  Andrey Martinez of B-CU Baseball and Alyssa Lopez of B-CU Softball have been named Wildcats of the Week for the week of March 31 - April 6, 2025. 

Andrey Martinez had one of the best weekend's in the nation in a series sweep against Mississippi Valley State, plus a strong start at USF in the midweek.  On the week, Andrey Martinez finished 11-18 at the plate with seven runs scored, two doubles, six homers, and 14 RBI. 11 of those 14 RBI came in Saturday's doubleheader, with nine coming in the nightcap. His homer in the bottom of the night with two outs in the second game of the weekend gave the Wildcats the walk-off, 6-5 win. With 10 homers on the season and plenty of regular season left, Martinez becomes the first Wildcat in double-digits for homers since Danny Rodriguez finished the 2017 season with 11. With 13 RBI on the weekend, Martinez matched the run total scored by MVSU as a team on the weekend. Martinez climbs to third on the SWAC leaderboard in homers. His six homers this week alone would put him tied for eighth in the league in long balls. 

Alyssa Lopez went 2-0 in the pitcher's circle last week for Bethune-Cookman as the Wildcats swept a three-game SWAC series at home from visiting Alabama A&M inside Sunnyland Park in Daytona Beach, Florida. The right-hander from Fontana, California worked 9.1 innings across two games, picking up a complete-game victory in the series finale, culminating in a 17-0 win for the Maroon and Gold. Lopez finished the week with 11 strikeouts and allowing just one (1) unearned run - that coming in the series-opener, while scattering eight hits and walking just two batters. She held AAMU to .211 batting against her on the weekend and combined with teammate Halyne Gonzalez as she tallied a 0.00 ERA throughout the series, respectively. She finished the series finale with a game-high seven strikeouts - the eighth time this season she has produced five or more K's against an opponent. Additionally, in that final game against the Bulldogs, Lopez scattered four hits over five innings on the rubber with just one (1) walk allowed.
