CORAL GABLES, Fla. -Â
Jorge Rodriguez knocked in a solo home run in the bottom of the second, but that was the only offense the Wildcats could manage in an 11-1 loss at Miami, Wednesday night at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.Â
Miami (18-16) scored first with a walk, single, and groundout to go up 1-0 in the first.
Bethune-Cookman (17-16) tied things up in the top of the second as
Jorge Rodriguez stroked his seventh homer of the season out to left field to tie things at one. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, their first hit was their only hit.Â
B-CU managed just one more baserunner in the game, as
Sergio Rivera took a hit-by-pitch to lead off the sixth. He stole second, but could not come around to score.Â
Miami, on the other hand, put up three in the fourth thanks to a bases-clearing homer, adding runs in the fourth, fifth - on another homer, four in the sixth, and one more in the seventh as they finished off a run-rule victory, 11-1.Â
Julian Carrasquilla made the start, allowing one earned run on one hit with two walks in two innings of work.
Brandon Vazquez took his third loss of the year, allowing three earned runs on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts in the second inning.Â
Four other Wildcats combined to finish up the game out of the pen.Â
- One hit in the game is the lowest total for the Wildcats this season - they had previously managed three in two contests earlier this year.Â
- This marks the third game with one or fewer runs scored this season, all three came in the midweek.Â
- B-CU now has 40 homers as a team on the season.Â
A quick turnaround for B-CU will see the Cats head to Huntsville to open a three-game series with Alabama A&M beginning Friday, April 12 at 2 p.m. EST.
