Reggie Theus announces significant additions with familiar faces

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Under the direction of Head Coach Reggie Theus, Bethune-Cookman Men's Basketball announced a significant roster reload for the upcoming 2025-26 season, announcing 10 new student-athletes, while retaining four contributors from last year's squad which finished third during the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular season and advanced to the semifinals of the SWAC Tournament in Atlanta, Georgia.

Reggie Theus, who also serves as the university's athletics director, has assembled a diverse group of talent, blending experienced transfers which look to bolster the Wildcats lineup.

Theus expressed optimism about the team's potential for the upcoming campaign, hoping to stem from last year's success both in and out of the conference.

"We've brought in talent with experience that we believe will elevate our program," commented Theus. "Our goal is to build on last season's success and compete for the SWAC championship. And I believe this crop of young men will bring exactly what we need in order to try and do just that – win a SWAC title."

Wildcats return All-SWAC forward Daniel Rouzan (14.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg in SWAC play), guard Seneca Willoughby (third-most assists in the SWAC), center Daniel Onanina (6.1 ppg and 2.8 rpg in SWAC play) and redshirt freshman Will Gonzalez. Rouzan is one of two 2024-25 All-SWAC players who return in 2025-26.

The new signings include the following:

  • Doctor Bradley, a 6-foot-8 guard/forward, transfers in from Arkansas-Pine Bluff, where he averaged 19.6 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.8 steals a season ago for the Golden Lions. Bradley was top 10 statistically in the SWAC in points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, field goal percentage and free throw attempts.

  • Jakobi Heady, a 6-foot-6 wing, returns to Bethune-Cookman following one year at Central Michigan. The former All-SDWAC performer averaged 15.0 points and 6.5 rebounds last season for the Chippewas. In 2023-24, Heady was a key member of B-CU's College Basketball Invitational (CBI) postseason tournament team, as he averaged 15.4 points and 4.4 rebounds, respectfully.

  • Arterio Morris, a 6-foot-4 point guard, arrives to B-CU after a one-year stint at South Plains Junior College in Texas. The former five-star and McDonalds All-American finished the 2024-25 season battling injuries, as the No. 3 JuCo prospect in the country per JUCORecruiting.com. Morris also averaged 4.6 points in 11.8 minutes per game during his freshman year at Texas.

  • Jordan Johnson, a 6-foot-4 guard, transfers in from SWAC institution Southern (La.), where he turned in 9.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game for the league regular season champions. The West Palm Beach, Florida native connected on 35.3 percent of his three-point attempts (108 total) over the past two seasons in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

  • Ariel Bland, a 6-foot-7 forward, comes to Daytona Beach from UC Santa Barbara, where he graduated following a four-year career. Most notably, Bland averaged 6.0 points and 5.9 rebounds during the 2023-24 season for the Gauchos.

  • Tyler Andrews, a 6-foot-6 wing, joins after stints at University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC), and most recently Eastern Kentucky. The Los Angeles, California native has logged over 1,200 minutes while averaging 4.6 points in his three-year career.

  • Quentin Heady, a 6-foot-6 forward, transfers in after a single season at Central Michigan. Quentin, brother of Jakobi Heady, averaged 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds while starting nine games over the course of last season.

  • Rickey Mitchell, a 6-foot-3 guard, comes into the program from City College of San Francisco. The Aurora, Colorado native won the California State Junior College Championship at CCSF, guiding his side to a 32-1 overall record. He would also lead the team in scoring (13.5 ppg) and shooting 39.9 percent from beyond the arc on 213 attempts.

  • Zion Harmon, a 6-foot point guard, returns to Bethune-Cookman following one season at Seton Hall The two-time all-SWAC contributor averaged 14.6 points, 4.0 assists and 1.7 steals for the Wildcats in 2023-24.

  • Dailon Minor, a 5-foot-10 point guard, signed his National Letter of Intent with B-CU this past fall. Minor graduated high school from BigTyme Sports Preparatory Academy in Texas.

Bethune-Cookman also returns graduate forward Reggie Ward Jr., who averaged 8.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game last season. The Chicago, Illinois product will redshirt the 2025-26 season after suffering a knee injury in last season's regular season finale against in-state foe Florida A&M.

The Cats aim to elevate their performance from previous seasons, earning 17 wins in back-to-back seasons while falling just short in the SWAC Tournament semifinals. B-CU has their eyes on the first ever NCAA tournament bid in school history.

"We wanted to hit on a number of different areas during the offseason – winners, experience, positional size and length, athleticism, three-point shooting, depth, among others," continued Theus. "I think the staff has done a tremendous job of bringing in what we need in key areas. The opportunity to coach this team with the amount of talent we've brought in – it's exciting to think about.

"I can't wait to get out on the court with these guys."
