BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atantic proved too much for Bethune-Cookman as the Wildcats dropped the final game of the non-conference season, 3-0 to Florida Atlantic, Saturday night at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
A service ace by
Rylee Davis gave the Cats an early 7-4 lead in the first set before FAU rallied back to take an 11-9 lead on a B-CU attack error.
B-CU came as close as 18-17 before FAU scored seven of the last eight, hitting .379 on the way to a first set win.
The two teams played to an early 5-5 score in set two before trading six straight serves. The Wildcats ran out to a 19-14 lead in the set after kills from
Sierra Herndon and
Shayla Henry.
The Owls stopped the B-CU momentum with five straight to re-take the lead at 22-21. After an FAU service error tied things again at 24 all, the Owls finished things off for a 26-24 set win.
The Cats were held to a -.043 hitting percentage in the final set, while the Owls hit nearly .400. After racing to an 18-9 lead in the final set, the Wildcats could not recover as FAU finished off the straight set win.

- Tiyanna Person led the way with six kills for the Cats along with a block assist
- .Kaleigh Williams added five, hitting .308.
- Sthefany Carvalho compiled 15 digs to lead B-CU.
Conference play is up next for B-CU as they host Mississippi valley State on Friday, September 26 at 6 p.m. at Moore Gymnasium.
