DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Sierra Herndon of B-CU Volleyball and
Javon Ross of B-CU Football have been named Wildcats of the Week for the week of September 22-28, 2025.
Senior middle blocker/opposite
Sierra Herndon sparked Bethune-Cookman to a 1-1 week with a SWAC-opening win over Mississippi Valley State at home. The Detroit, Michigan native finished the week with 12 kills, averaging a team-best 2.40 kills per set, and hit at a team-high .444 clip across the two league matches. She also had a team-most eight blocks (five assisted) as well. In the win from MVSU, Herndon produced five kills and hit .333 for the match with one assist and three blocks - adding a season-high two solo blocks. The Baylor School product and former UNCG student-athlete provided seven kills two days later against Jackson State, hitting .556 for the match, also accounting for five blocks (four assisted) - matching her season high in that category from last weekend versus George Washington in Boca Raton, Florida.
Javon Ross played a large part in the Wildcats first 1-0 SWAC start since joining the conference. The local product from DeLand High School hauled in his first-ever collegiate touchdown on a 79-yard catch to put the Wildcats on the board on their first offensive play of the game against Alabama A&M. He finished the day with five catches for 108 yards and the score. He followed that up with his first-ever rushing touchdown, a 41-yard scamper on his only carry of the game.
Each week, The Bethune-Cookman Office of Athletic Communications recognizes one male and one female student-athlete through the Wildcats of the Week award.
This award recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in competition, in the classroom, and in the community over the past week, exemplifying the Championship Culture of Wildcat Athletics.
