DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -
Daniel Rouzan scored 24 points as the Wildcats held off a late surge to beat Alcorn 82-73 at Moore Gymnasium.
1st Half
Bethune-Cookman (9-11, 6-1) and Alcorn State (3-16, 2-5) went back and forth early on, with both teams trading one-point leads during the first five minutes.
From there, the Wildcats began to build a bit of a cushion, going on a 11-5 run to take a 21-14 lead. B-CU would continue to increase the lead, finishing the half with a 14-point advantage.
Daniel Rouzan was a focal point for the Cats in the first, scoring 17 points to lead all scorers. As a team, the Wildcats shot a scorching-hot 63.3% from the field and hit four of their six three-point attempts.
2nd Half
B-CU looked like they were going to cruise to an easy win early in the second, as they went on a 17-6 run in the first eight minutes to increase the lead to 23 with 11:45 remaining.
Alcorn stormed their way back into the game, going on a 21-6 run to get within eight points at the 5:54 mark. The Braves held the Wildcats two just two made field goals during the stretch and forced five turnovers.
B-CU was able to weather the storm during the stretch run, generating enough offense to close out the win. The Wildcats went 0-for-10 from three-point range in the second half, but got to the free-throw line 20 times, making 15 of those attempts including several in the final five minutes.
- Daniel Rouzan led all scorers with 24 points, his season-high.
- Jakobi Heady finished with 20 points, including 11 in the second half.
- Doctor Bradley had 15 points and nine rebounds.
- Shane Lancaster led Alcorn with 16.
- Four Braves scored in double-figures.
- Alcorn finished with 12 more shot attempts than B-CU.

The Wildcats head back on the road to face Alabama State and Alabama A&M. Tipoff against the Hornets is scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m.
