Wildcats Sweep Braves for Tenth Victory on the Year

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman took care of business at home Friday, using a .304 hitting percentage to make quick work of Alcorn State at Moore Gymnasium.

The win gives the Wildcats their tenth on the season. The program has now reached double digit wins in three consecutive season.

Header How it Happened

The Wildcats (10-9, 6-3) took complete control early in the first set, taking a 5-0 lead that they would never relinquish. The Lady Braves (3-15, 3-5) hit just .172 with nine kills and four errors.

B-CU finished out the set with seven straight points, five of which were kills.

Alcorn State looked to bounce back in set two, going on an early 7-0 run to take a four-point lead. The Lady Braves would be up by as many as seven before the Wildcats stormed back.

After a kill by Rylan Jones made it 19-12 in favor of Alcorn State, B-CU scored eight of the next nine points to tie the game at 20.

The Lady Braves would then score four of the next five to make it 24-21. But the Wildcats just wouldn't go away. They scored the final five points, with two kills from Moriah Johnson, to put the set away and complete an unbelievable comeback.

The third set was tightly contested early, but B-CU would put together a 6-0 scoring run midway through that would essentially put the game on ice.

The Wildcats hit .400 as a team during the final set, with just two errors.

The sweep of Alcorn State was the Wildcats' fourth of the season.
