BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Bethune-Cookman running back Rashon Brown and safety Naim Lassiter have each earned their first SWAC Weekly Award of the season, the league announced Monday evening. Brown was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Lassiter was selected as Defensive Player of the Week.

The honors mark the second and third SWAC Weekly Awards for the Wildcats this season and the first of Brown's and Lassiter's respective careers.

Rashon Brown turned in a career-best performance and one of the finest rushing games in Bethune-Cookman history in the Wildcats' win over Alabama State. The redshirt freshman carried the ball 31 times for a career-high 260 yards and a touchdown, placing him third in rushing yards in a single game in B-CU history. He averaged 8.4 yards per carry and finished with more total yards than the entire Alabama State offense.

Naim Lassiter led Bethune-Cookman's strong defensive effort, helping B-CU limit the Hornets to just 10 points and 255 total yards of offense. The redshirt junior paced the Wildcats with nine tackles, including six solo stops, and added half a sack.

B-CU will look to carry the momentum into its first road SWAC contest of the season this Saturday, as they travel to Huntsville to take on the Alabama A&M Bulldogs. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
