DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Despite a late comeback attempt by the Wildcats, B-CU could not finish it off, falling short 61-60 to Alabama State at Moore Gymnasium.

1st Quarter
The first quarter was tightly contested with Alabama State (13-12, 10-4) holding the four-point edge at the conclusion of the period.
Both teams struggled from the field in the quarter, shooting below 30%. The Hornets made two three-pointers, made 5-of-6 attempts from the free-throw line, and out-rebounded Bethune-Cookman (6-21, 4-10) 11-8.
2nd Quarter
The Wildcats once again struggled shooting the basketball, converting just two of their 10 attempts in the second. B-CU found success at getting to the free-throw line, shooting 9-of-12.
Alabama State once again made two-three pointers, continuing its hot shooting from beyond the arc. As a result, the Hornets were able to maintain the lead, going into halftime up 27-22.
Amari Franklin led all scorers with six points while Kailyn Peters and Alexandria Johnson each had six for B-CU.
3rd Quarter
The Hornets were the dominant team in the third quarter, scoring 22 points while increasing their lead to 13.
Each team made two three-pointers in the quarter, but the Wildcat shot just 26.7 from the field compared to 69.2% for Alabama State.
4th Quarter
The Wildcats fought in the fourth quarter to steal the win, eventually managing to tie the game with 2:45 remaining.
ASU would retake a four-point lead with 1:50 to go and continued to maintain a slight advantage in crunch time. But with nine seconds left, Janessa Kelley hit a three-pointer and was fouled by the Hornets, giving her a chance to tie the game.
Kelley could not convert the and-one opportunity though, and the Hornets were able to inbound the ball and hold on for the victory.
- Janessa Kelley led the Wildcats with 15 points which ties her career high.
- Daimoni Dorsey finished with 11 points.
- Tyler Butler scored six points and picked up 10 rebounds.
- Caylee Simpson and Amari Franklin each had 14 for the Hornets.
- B-CU shot 34.6% from the field overall.
- The Hornets shot 57.1% from three-point territory.
The Wildcats play in their final home game of the season against Alabama A&M. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST.
