CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – B-CU fell to Oregon State and Long Beach State in its final two games in Cathedral City at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
Oregon State 17, B-CU 0
The Beavers (7-7) scored in every inning and totaled 19 hits, including four home runs, to secure the run-rule victory over Bethune-Cookman (3-13).
Oregon State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Jaeya Butler drove in the game's first run with an RBI single before Madison Weir added a sacrifice fly. Lici Campbell capped the frame with an RBI single to right.
The Beavers broke the game open in the second, plating four runs on three home runs. Butler launched a two-run shot to center, Tristian Thompson followed later in the inning with a solo homer, and Morgan Howey added another solo blast to make it 7-0.
Oregon State continued to add on in the third, taking advantage of a pair of Wildcat errors to score twice, including an RBI double from Butler. Weir connected on a solo home run in the fourth to extend the lead to 10-0.
The Beavers put the game out of reach in the fifth, scoring seven runs on seven hits. Butler delivered her second double of the contest, while Thompson, Weir and Genevieve Beacom each drove in runs during the inning.
Butler paced Oregon State offensively, going 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and five RBI. Weir added three hits and four RBI, and Thompson finished with two hits and three RBI.
Bailey Murray (2-1) earned the win in the circle for Oregon State, tossing a five-inning no-hitter with three strikeouts and two walks.
For Bethune-Cookman, Emma Bradley-Tse and Janel Morrisey each drew walks as the Wildcats were held without a hit. Mia Gonzalez (2-5) took the loss after allowing three runs in the opening inning.
LBSU 6, B-CU 3
The Wildcats trimmed a five-run deficit to three in the top of the seventh, but the Beach (9-4) held on to secure the victory.
After three scoreless innings, Long Beach State broke through in the bottom of the third on an RBI double from Priscilla Iniguez to take a 1-0 lead. Bethune-Cookman answered in the fourth when Kween Tauala reached on a single and later scored on a throwing error by the catcher to even the game at 1-1.
The Beach responded with a three-run fourth inning to regain control. Nina Sepulveda delivered an RBI single before Lina Apodaca followed with a two-run single to center, extending the lead to 4-1. Long Beach State added a run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly and another in the sixth on Sepulveda's solo home run to push the advantage to 6-1.
Bethune-Cookman showed resilience in its final at-bat. Arianna Reynolds sparked the rally with a two-out single, and Makiyah Ross worked a walk to put two aboard. Mia'Lani Mayo then ripped a triple down the right-field line, driving in both runners to cut the deficit to 6-3.
Mayo finished 1-for-2 with two RBI and a triple, while Tauala, Alana Cypress, Aysiah Gonzalez and Ross each recorded a hit as the Wildcats tallied six hits on the afternoon.
Mia Gonzalez (2-7) took the loss in the circle, allowing four runs over 3.1 innings of work. Jailynn Banda (2-2) earned the win in relief for Long Beach State.

B-CU heads back to the Sunshine State for the Make It Happen Games in Madeira Beach, starting on Friday at 10 a.m. against Bellarmine.
