Women's Basketball Defeats Prairie View, Sweeps Homestand

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daimoni Dorsey's 15 points led the way in a 62-52 Wildcats win over Prairie View A&M at Moore Gymnasium. With the victory, B-CU sweeps the two-game homestand for the first time this season.

1st Quarter
Bethune-Cookman (5-19, 3-8) fell behind early as Prairie View A&M (2-20, 0-11) got off to a hot start offensively. The Panthers made two three-pointers to grab a 14-4 lead with four minutes remaining in the quarter.

The Wildcats dominated the remainder of the quarter, finishing on a 10-1 run to cut the deficit to just one. Jordan Brooks gave B-CU strong production in the first, scoring six points.

2nd Quarter
The scoring run continued for B-CU in the second as they held Prairie View without a point for the first seven minutes of the second. The Panthers three-pointer with 3:05 remaining ended a 19-1 Wildcat run that began late in the first.

B-CU held the PVAMU to just two made field goals and dominated the glass to the tune of a 16-5 rebounding advantage.

Daimoni Dorsey caught fire in the second, finishing with seven points to bring her halftime total to 11, tied with Jordan Brooks for the team lead.

3rd Quarter
The Wildcats held an eight-point lead at halftime and were able to maintain that lead in the third. Each team shot below 35% from the floor and combined to shoot 1-of-13 from beyond the arc.

Mya Johnson served as the go-to option, scoring eight points in the frame.

4th Quarter
Once again, B-CU was able to maintain its lead, despite a late push by the Panthers. The Wildcats never allowed Prairie View to get within one possession, making enough plays to finish off the win.

B-CU shot 42.9% and out-rebounded the Panthers 12-7. The team continued to execute well from the line in late game situations, converting on eight of 11 attempts.
