Cats Sweep Senior Day Double Header Against AAMU

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman softball closed out the regular season strong, winning both games of the double header to sweep Alabama A&M at Sunnlyand Park. The Wildcats honored senior Emma Bradley-Tse prior to first pitch, and she was a key contributor in the team's dominant 12-0 win in her final home game.

Header How it Happened

Game 1: B-CU 3, AAMU 1
Bethune-Cookman (20-26, 16-8) jumped out to an early lead in game one. Emma Bradley-Tse walked and came around to score on a sac fly Zariah Billinger to make it 1-0.

The Wildcats added another run in the second. Jasmine Manebo hit her second home run of the season, a solo shot to push the lead to 2-0.

In the third, Janel Morrisey led off with a walk before scoring on a base hit by Billinger for the team's third run.

Alabama A&M (19-31, 6-18) got a run back in the fifth. Destiny led off the frame with a single and would eventually score on a Mariah Solorio base hit to make it 3-1.

However, the rally would end there as B-CU would shut out the Bulldogs the rest of the way. Sofia Coleman pitched a complete game for the Wildcats, allowing no earned runs on six hits while earning her fifth win of the season.

Game 2: B-CU 12, AAMU 0
The Wildcats got off to a fast start in the second game, scoring three runs in the first. An Alabama A&M error with two outs allowed one run to score, and Kween Tauala would drive in two more on an RBI single to make it 3-0.

B-CU would blow the game open in the third. The Wildcats collected six hits in the inning and two walks while the Bulldogs committed one error. Bradley-Tse, Morrisey, Arianna Reynolds, and Jessica Alaan all picked up RBI in the frame as B-CU tallied six runs.

In the fourth, the Wildcats put three more runs on the board. One run scored on an error, while Alana Cypress drove in two more on a triple to extend the lead to 12-0.

Mia Gonzalez pitched five shutout innings for B-CU. She only allowed three hits and recorded three strikeouts.
