DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – B-CU volleyball will renew a Volusia County rivalry over the weekend as they will take on the Stetson Hatters in back-to-back days. Friday's matchup will be the Wildcats' home opener at Moore Gymnasium, beginning at 6 p.m. And the two teams will play again Saturday at the Edmunds Center at 5 p.m.

▪ The Wildcats went 1-2 during the opening weekend Pirate Invitational in Greenville, South Carolina. B-CU rallied from a 2-0 deficit against Radford to win the final game of the series.
▪
Moriah Johnson had an excellent showing in her first action with the Maroon & Gold. She earned All-Tournament honors after three games in which she totaled 43 kills on a .255 attack percentage. Johnson also added 25 digs and three service aces. She was particularly efficient against Hampton, totaling 18 kills on 32 attack attempts good for a .469 attack percentage. She also collected 10 kills in the game to earn a double-double.

Nola Hemphill began her third season with the Wildcats over the weekend, collecting a team-high 30 digs and 47 assists.
▪ Bethune-Cookman will look to win its home-opener for the third consecutive season.
The Hatters began their season in Boca Raton at the Florida Atlantic Invitational. They finished 1-2 in the tournament with losses to FAU and FIU and a win against Merrimack.
Freshman Andrea Diaz Dominguez led the Hatters offensively, finishing with 25 kills and 30 points on the weekend. She also contributed four assists, 40 digs and three blocks. Another freshman, Sofia Torcello, put together a strong debut as she currently leads the ASUN with 18 blocks.
Stetson has been a strong team at the net early on in the season. They currently lead the ASUN in both blocks per set and total blocks with 35. Offensively, they have collected 123 kills through 12 sets, averaging 10.3 per and have achieved an attack percentage of .194.
The Hatters have historically dominated the series against the Wildcats, holding a 61-6 record against B-CU all-time. The Cats will be searching for their first win over Stetson since 2015 and first in DeLand since 2004.
