BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After a season-best performance Sunday afternoon, Alayah Rhodes has been named SWAC Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday from its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama.

For Rhodes, it is her first weekly award of the season, and it is the second for the Wildcats overall.

The Mississippi Valley State transfer was the driving force in B-CU's first SWAC victory over Alabama State. She finished with season-highs in kills (21) and attack percentage (.436), while also recording eight digs, three assists, two total blocks, and one service ace.

In total, she collected 28 kills, 16 digs, four total blocks, and four assists over the weekend.

Bethune-Cookman continues conference play on the road this week as they head to Mississippi to face the Tigers and Delta Devils. The Jackson State matchup is up next, beginning Friday at 7 p.m.
