ORLANDO – The 2026-27 women's golf season officially gets underway Monday as the Wildcats begin play at the SSC Warm Up in Orlando. Hosted by Florida Southern, the event is set to take place at the Rio Pinar Country Club with the opening tee times scheduled for 8:00 a.m.

Lineup: Lathika Krishna, Vivian Luu, Mia Bernier, Lana Bowen, Hannah Butzer

 

The lineup for the season-opener will feature two returners from last season in Krishna, Bernier, and Bowen. Krishna is coming off a strong season, capped off by an appearance on the All-SWAC Second Team. She was named SWAC Golfer of the Week and Newcomer of the Week four times and finished third overall in the SWAC Championships.

Meanwhile, Bernier and Bowen return to B-CU for their junior seasons.  Bernier rejoins the team following a nineteenth place finish at the SWAC Championships. The Puerto Rico native also had another top-20 finish in Montgomery at the Alabama State Spring Classic. Bowen finished fourth for the Wildcats in Birmingham.

The 2026 newcomers include Vivian Luu and Hannah Butzer. Luu joins the Wildcats after two season with Eastern Florida State College, while the sophomore Butzer transferred over from Chicago State.

Rio Pinar holds the distinction of hosting the first big tour events in Central Florida, a testament to its historical significance. This rich tradition has seen legendary names. Golf icons such as Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Julius Boros, and Hale Irwin have claimed victory at the prestigious Florida Citrus Open, leaving an indelible mark on the course and paving the way for today's Arnold Palmer Invitational.
