2016 – Redshirt Sophomore Season
Third Team All-MEAC selection as a shortstop… Played and started in 55 games of the 56 on the season… Batted .288 for the season… Tied for third on the Wildcats squad with 60 hits in 208 official at-bats – fourth amongst all MEAC players… Tied for third on the team with seven doubles… Tied for third in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) with three triples… Drove in 22 runs while scoring a team third-most 39 runs… Owned a slugging percentage of .394 on the year… Swiped 14 bases in 17 total attempts… Registered a fielding percentage of .940 with 89 putouts and 178 assists… Placed himself eighth in the league with 237 total plate appearances… Ranked 10th in the league with 284 chances in the field… His 178 assists led the MEAC in that category… Successfully turned 44 double plays to lead all players in the MEAC… Went 3-for-5 at UCF (Feb. 23) with three runs scored and a pair of doubles, adding three putouts on defense… Registered a 3-for-4 outing with a season-high three RBI and scoring once against USF (March 1)… Picked up a 3-for-6 performance at the dish with a RBI, also posting five assists on the defensive side in the series-opener against Florida Gulf Coast (March 4)… Swiped a season-high tying two bases in the series finale at North Carolina Central (March 20)… Also went 2-for-4 at the plate, picking up three putouts and four assists in that game against the Eagles… Stated a pair of hits in four trips to the plate and scoring a run with two putouts and five assists in seven attempts in the series-opening win over North Carolina A&T (March 25)… Finished the Savannah State series (April 9-10) going 4-for-11 at the plate with a RBI, run scored, five putouts and eight assists… Registered his first home run of the season by going 1-for-4 with two RBI, adding three putouts and eight assists in the field… Had a streak of three consecutive games with multiple hits in the second North Carolina A&T series (April 30-May 1) in Greensboro, North Carolina… Finished the series going 8-for-14 at the plate, scoring seven runs, adding two RBI and 10 assists defensively… Had a 3-for-5 showing at the plate with two RBI and a run scored at nationally-ranked Miami (May 10)… Also hit his third home run of the year in that game against the Hurricanes… Batted 4-for-10 in the NCAA Gainesville [Fla.] Regional with five assists in the field… Was 2-for-5 against host Florida (June 3) with a RBI…
 
2015 – Redshirt Freshman Season
The only freshman in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference to start every game at shortstop… Played and started in 52 games at the shortstop position for the Wildcats as a redshirt freshman… Finished third on the team in batting average, holding a .283 average across the season… Led the team with 35 runs… Tallied 52 hits in 184 at-bats… registered eight doubles and a triple… Pounded out 15 RBI… Used a .337 slugging percentage… Was hit by a pitch a team-high tying eight times… Swiped two bases in four attempts… Held a .933 fielding percentage with 120 putouts and a team-best 132 assists… Went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and two runs scored in the series finale of a three-game set to begin the year at Georgia Southern (Feb. 15)… Was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a double and run scored, adding three putouts and two assists against Jacksonville (March 10)… Recorded a 2-for-3 showing at the dish with a pair of runs and a double, as well as a putout and two assists in the final game of a series sweep at North Carolina A&T (March 15)… Picked up four consecutive multi-hit games from, March 24 through March 28… Finished a perfect 3-for-3 with a season-best three RBI and a double in the second leg of a doubleheader against Savannah State (March 28)… Had three assists and a putout, while going 2-for-3 at the plate against Jacksonville (April 14)… Tallied a perfect 3-for-3 afternoon against nationally-ranked Louisville (April 26) in the series finale, adding three assists and a putout on defense… Scored a season-high matching three runs with two hits in the opener of a doubleheader at Savannah State (May 2)… Finished the series in Savannah with a 5-for-9 effort at the plate and zero (0) errors in the field… Went 3-for-5 with a double. A RBI and two runs in a victory over Delaware State (May 15) in the MEAC Championships at Salisbury, Maryland… Tallied four putouts and two assists in that game against the Hornets…

Prepped at Huron High in Ann Arbor, Michigan… Played for head coach Terry Bigham… Played shortstop… As a senior, batted .323 on 41 hits, 12 doubles and one triple… Drove in 24 runs and crossed 41 times himself… Stole 22 bases in 2013… Turned in a .969 fielding percentage on the campaign… Named first team all-conference… First team all-county and all-district… First team all-region performer… Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Team… Team captain and team MVP… Helped his team to a 24-14-1 record and a district title… Also claimed a city championship in 2013… Hit at a .396 clip as a junior… Knocked in 20 runs, scored 33 times and delivered a home run during the 2012 season… First Team All-SEC… First team all-district and all-county in 2012… Also lettered in football and basketball for two years… All-conference and all-county selection in both sports during his junior and senior season…

Has two siblings, Dion (26) and Dyson (10)… His older brother, Dion, plays tight end for the Miami Dolphins… Son of Donald and Daphne Sims… Outside of baseball, he enjoys spending time with his family… Ann Arbor Huron High School ambassador and athletic mentor… Chose to attend Bethune-Cookman because it would give him the best opportunity to succeed on and off the field, and also to help him get closer to his ultimate goal of playing in the MLB with a university degree… Favorite sports memory is defeating his high school’s crosstown rival in the district finals… Lists praying as a superstition before every game… Says his favorite athlete is José Reyes… Favorite professional sports team is the Oklahoma City Thunder… Favorite actor and actress are Denzel Washington and Halle Berry… Favorite book is I Am Not a Serial Killer… Says pizza is his favorite meal… Named to the Dean’s List at B-CU four years with a 3.6 cumulative GPA… Working towards a degree in Physical Education/Recreation… Serves as a B-CU representative/member of the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)…
