2019 (Redshirt-Junior): Made 44 starts at catcher or DH and played in two other games ... had 31 hits and a .208 average ... tied for team-high with four homers ... had six doubles and 21 RBI ... walked 16 times and went 4-5 in stolen bases ... threw out 13 runners and fielded .988 ... had three hits at NCA&T (4/27) and five RBI vs. NCCU (3/16) for season-highs.

Prepped at George Steinbrenner High School in Tampa… Played high school baseball for head coach John Crumbley… Suited up as a catcher and third baseman during his senior season… Saw action in 15 games, registering a .238 batting average with 10 hits… Achieved the Team Captain award… Helped his squad to the regional semifinals… Played in 22 games as a junior, recording 20 hits and a .370 batting average… Team advanced to the regional quarterfinals that year… Named a first team all-district performer by the Tampa Tribune and St. Pete Times… All-Hillsborough County First Team catcher… Team won the district title his sophomore year, finishing the year 29-2 overall…

Born Chase Michael DeBonis on April 24, 1997… Majoring in Sports Management… Has two siblings – Domenic (26) and Jordan (22)… Enjoys fishing and all outdoor activities away from the baseball field… Competed in DECA in high school… Chose to attend Bethune-Cookman because he thought it was a beautiful place that he could continue his education and play baseball… Says his favorite sports moment was hitting his first career home run when he was 8 years old… Favorite athlete is Jason Varitek because he’s the reason Chase began playing catcher… Favorite sports team is Tampa Bay Rays… Favorite television show is Friday Night Lights… Favorite book is The Little Train That Could… Most prized possession is his baseball glove…
