ALLEN SUBER'S TRIBUTE TO KIRK MASTROMATTEO
Kirk Mastromatteo, or "Coach Mas" as he was so lovingly known, was the epitome of a coach.
A true teacher and motivator, his knowledge of the game we all love is unmatched. My relationship with Coach Mas extended beyond the season and gridiron and into the office where he afforded me an opportunity to sit with him to watch film on recruits.
Knowing I wanted to pursue coaching after my football playing career, this was my introduction into being a college football recruiting coordinator. One to always look out, Coach Mas also offered my brother his first coaching job ever in Australia.
For his guidance and opportunity, I will be forever indebted.
No matter the distance, Coach Mas always found a way to keep in contact. I was looking forward to have the opportunity to work with him one day. Instead, I pray for his continued guidance.
I always think about you when I asked the trainers for "a little JU-ice" (juice). "It means the sweet stuff."
