Mitch Morales

Mitch Morales joined Bethune-Cookman as its Hitting and Infield Coach prior to the 2019 season.

Most recently, Morales helped bring in the most accomplished recruiting class in school history. The incoming 2019 signees rank 59th according to Perfect Game, the highest ever for Bethune-Cookman.

A three-year shortstop at FAU and member of the Cape Cod League's Harwich Marines, Morales was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 42nd round out of high school and by the San Diego Padres in the 29th round after his 2014 junior year at FAU.

Morales played in 142 career games for the Owls with 133 career hits, 67 runs scored and 53 RBI.

In 2013, Morales hit .301, starting each of FAU's 64 games. He played in 27 games in 2014, battling multiple injuries throughout his junior campaign.

Morales became the third Owl to be drafted by San Diego, joining L.J. Biernbaum (2002) and Brennan Hervey (1996). He was the fifth shortstop to be drafted out of FAU since 1996.

He played for the Arizona Padres and Eugene Emeralds in the summer of 2014, and saw action across A ball in 2015 with the Tri-City Dust Devils, Fort Wayne TinCaps, and Lake Elsinore Storm.

His father (Alex) is a former minor league manager with the Brewers and former head coach at Palm Beach State College. He is currently a scout with the Washington Nationals. His brother (Matthew) is currently in the minor leagues with the Kansas City Royals.
