Played center field for the McArthur Mustangs under Coach Daniel Baugh, aiding the team to a District Championship and 14-8 record in his senior year (2011)...MHS topped South Plantation 10-0 for the District title; Welch had two RBI and a double in the game...Welch batted .322 as a senior, logging a .431 on-base percentage, with 19 hits, including four doubles and a triple...Collected 11 RBI as a senior...Successfully stole 8-of-9 bases in his final high school season...Was named all-district and played in the Senior All-Star Game
